Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational 2013

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The accolades keep coming for the Eastern Kentucky University cross country teams following a successful opening meet at the Bluegrass Invitational on Saturday. Senior Soufiane Bouchikhi and junior Ann Eason have now been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Male and Female Runners of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky cross country’s Cally Macumber was named National Athlete of the Week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. Macumber posted one of the nation’s fastest 5,000-meter times of the young cross country season last Saturday.

NEW ORLEANS – Eastern Kentucky University senior All-American Soufiane Bouchikhi has been named the Division I Male National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Even before my head hit the pillow on Friday night, I knew it was going to be a great morning of racing in the Bluegrass State. After a relatively hot week, the air finally had that early-fall crisp to it and a cool breeze blew freshly fallen leaves across the ground. THIS was the cross country weather I remembered from high school. Fortunately for runners and spectators alike, that same kind of weather carried over to the morning and we had a perfect day for racing.
